Namaste from NIMJN!
We're back with exciting updates on the work that we're doing across Nepal! Over the past few months, we’ve been busy with trainings, a well-being conference, and publishing impactful, in-depth, and investigative stories. We're sharing impactful stories, celebrating achievements, and highlighting updates for you to get involved. More on all of this below!
Empowering Journalists in Disaster Reporting Using Solutions Journalism
Nepal Investigative Multimedia Journalism Network (NIMJN) empowered 75 journalists to Report on humanitarian crises and disasters using solutions journalism in Lalitpur, Panchthar, and Sindhuli (Click the link for details). Journalists from disaster-affected districts across Bagmati, Koshi, Gandaki, and Madhesh provinces have been equipped with the theoretical, practical, and technical knowledge and skills necessary for reporting on humanitarian crises and disasters using solutions journalism.
They have also learned the latest multimedia tools and techniques. The training included knowledge, skill, and stress management techniques to support journalists' mental well-being while reporting on humanitarian and disaster scenarios.
Following the training, sixteen journalists (five from the Lalitpur and Panchthar training sessions, and six from the Sindhuli session) are provided fellowships to cover humanitarian crises and disaster issues through solution journalism.

NIMJN Wellbeing Conference
NIMJN prioritizes the well-being of journalists. As part of this focus, we recently brought together our fellows and alumni to discuss the status of mental well-being in newsrooms. We provided them with practical tips for maintaining a healthy work-life balance and personal life by organizing the NIMJN Well-Being Conference. The conference featured two panel discussions: the first focused on the 'Status of Mental Well-being in Nepali Newsrooms,' and the second on 'How to Tackle Mental Health Issues in Newsrooms.' The conference also included a friendly futsal game, entertainment, art, and presentations.
